Podcasts

A podcast (or non-streamed webcast) is a series of digital media files (either audio or video) that are released in different episodes, usually on a daily or weekly basis.

The files can be downloaded into portable equipments such as Ipods or cell phones, for instance, They can also be opened on the computer screen. In either case, users can listen to audio files or watch videos in order to comprehend them.

To get a better idea of what an audio or video podcast is, access the two sites below: one is delivered by CNN and the other by BCC.

http://edition.cnn.com/services/podcasting/

http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/6min

Surf through each of them. Select the news you’re interested in. Try to fully understand what is being delivered.

My recommendation? Keep both sites among your favorites. Access them on a daily basis, for instance. This will help you “brush up” your English and keep up-to-date with what is happening around the world.
